All of Us Are Dead – Korean Drama

A high school becomes ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak. Trapped students must fight to survive or become one of the rabid infected.

A gripping and surprisingly humorous drama that packs a lot of gore into each episode. It also tackles issues such as bullying and teen romance.

On-jo

On-jo lived with her firefighter father, Nam So-ju, and best friend, Cheong-san. They had a close bond and many classmates believed that they were dating, but they denied it.

When the group found themselves trapped in the school, On-jo used her knowledge of the building to help them barricade the doors and windows. She was also the one who spotted I-sak’s bite mark, and confronted him about it in front of the rest of the survivors.

As the students flee, they use music broadcast from a room inside the school to distract the zombies. Gwi-nam catches up with them, but is pushed off the scaffolding by Cheong-san and escapes. He later stabs On-jo to fulfill his craving for human flesh, and she collapses in shock.

Cheong-san

Cheong-san is a typical high school student who worries about her grades and her parents, but he also has a burgeoning unrequited crush on Nam On-jo. During the zombie outbreak, he stepped up to take on an unofficial leadership role for Class 2-5, conceiving many of their escape plans and volunteering first for dangerous tasks.

He used an emergency fire hose to form a makeshift climbing rope for the survivors, and he encouraged a despondent On-jo to stay alive. He even visited a Memorial Tree for Hyosan High School’s victims to place ribbon offerings, one of which read “Cheong-san, I love you”.

At the end of the series, he faced off against Gwi-nam in a final showdown, but Gwi-nam gouged out Cheong-san’s left eye and ate it in revenge.

Nam-ra

Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin return to collaborate in this gripping zombie drama that reunites them both after their previous collaboration in the 2018 film The Negotiation.

Sophisticated daughter of a North Korean department store heiress, Dan is engaged through an arranged marriage to Jeong-hyeok despite him not reciprocating her feelings. She is also pursued by gangsters who covet her company, Queens Group, for which she embezzled large sums. She makes yearly visits to Switzerland for relaxation and meets Seung-jun on many occasions. He is a conman who has British citizenship and has cheated his father of his fortune in South Korea.

Su-hyeok

Su-hyeok is one of the main characters in All of Us Are Dead. He is the most active and sturdiest member of the group when it comes to fighting zombies. He is also good at archery.

He regrets being part of the bullies and has tried to make up for it by helping others. He is selfless and will risk his own life to protect the others, as shown when he defended Nam-ra by letting her bite him so she wouldn’t turn into a halfbie or zombie.

Lee Su-hyeok is a popular K-drama actor who began his career as a model. He is known for his angular face and powerful expressions. He has appeared in many popular dramas and movies. He also has a number of magazine covers under his belt.

Byeong-chan

Byeong-chan has short shaggy brown hair and wore a yellow flannel shirt. He is a science teacher at Hyosun High School. He created the Jonas virus, which kicked off the zombie outbreak in the school. He was cynical about the bullying at the school and the inability of the authorities to punish the bullies, so he created the virus.

He kept the infected mouse at the school’s science lab, where one of his son’s bullies was bitten by it and infected. He knocked her out and tied her up, trying to prevent an outbreak at the school.

He is also a member of the South Korean boy band VICTON. He competed on the reality show Produce X 101 and has appeared on a variety of programs.

Nam So-ju

All of Us Are Dead has some surprisingly complex characterizations and a bit of moral ambiguity. It also shows that people need to work together to survive and that selfishness can doom the human race.

As the zombie outbreak escalates, So-ju works to rescue her daughter, On-jo. She is the first teacher to realize what is happening and tries to help as many students as she can.

The show also features a variety of other characters who help the survivors, including homeroom teacher Ms. Park and school bully Yoon Gwi-nam, who is a paramedic for the 119 Fire EMS Rescue unit in Hyosan. He is a formidable fighter who can take on both zombies and humans, and his determination to see On-jo again is a driving force in the story.

Gwi-nam

Gwi-nam was a school bully who harassed and belittled students for his own enjoyment. He was one of the main antagonists and had a strong psychopathic personality. He didn’t feel any remorse when he pushed a student off library bookshelves or murdered the principal during the zombie outbreak.

He was very ruthless and didn’t care about anyone’s feelings. He even used Eun-ji and Cheol-su as bait for zombies.

Gwi-nam is able to fight very well, especially when he reveals his superhuman strength. He also has a knack for falling down, usually at least once a scene. This is probably because he was thrown off the roof by Su-hyeok. However, he isn’t always dead (as seen when he was thrown off the first floor of the school). He reappears when the group tries to open the rooftop door.
