iPhone 16 And iPhone 16 pro Review
Apple’s latest iPhone 16 models have officially hit stores and can now be bought outright. The phones feature larger displays, slimmer bezels, and an Action button which can be programmed as needed.
Many users–primarily YouTube commenters but also professional photographers–complain about the iPhone’s photographs appearing too flat or not HDR enough, wanting the device to enhance shadows while decreasing highlights.
Future and Feathers
Apple recently lifted their reviews embargo for the iPhone 16 series, permitting media outlets to post videos demonstrating their experiences with temporary loaner units (Marques Brownlee and Mrwhosetheboss have posted videos sharing their first impressions of the 16 Pro Max).
Both models feature slimmer bezels than last year’s iPhone 15 models, and the Pro models boast OLED displays that are one inch larger top to bottom. Furthermore, Apple claims the A18 Pro chip offers 15% faster processing with 20% reduced power usage compared to its predecessor chip.
Apple says they offer 30 percent higher sustained performance for games like Balatro and controller-enabled titles like Backbone compared to last year’s model. Preorder the iPhone 16 or 16 Pro starting today; both devices will hit stores September 20. Apple provides an app to select your color, capacity and carrier; you can even add accessories as well as purchase an optional AppleCare+ protection plan if desired.
Performance
Apple’s new iPhone 16 lineup has officially hit stores and ships today, drawing rave reviews from CNET’s Patrick Holland for its improved slo-mo video features while Lisa Eadicicco considers Pro models “faster and more intuitive” than previous ones. Both feature an upgraded Apple A18 chip while Pro models boast 5x periscope zoom for improved zoom quality.
Geekbench results so far indicate that the A18 Pro runs faster than its direct predecessor – even without taking into account GPU performance which should surpass that of A17 Pro when playing games.
Geekerwan’s battery tests prove that Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and Max boast impressive longevity when compared with last year’s flagships, easily surpassing 10 hours in his tests. He credits their new A18 silicon as being responsible, along with replacing their foil case with a metal one to enhance thermal efficiency, keeping users cool in use.
Camera
Apple lifted their reviews embargo today, permitting YouTubers Marques Brownlee and iJustine to start sharing their first impressions of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 pro on YouTube. Both were able to evaluate both camera capabilities as well as battery life on these models.
In his YouTube video, iJustine claims that the new iPhone does a better job at processing photos with reduced noise in both shadows and highlights than previous models; it improves low-light shots slightly more than some Android competitors; but lens flare is still difficult to avoid even with good lenses.
9to5Mac and Trendforce have both received confirmation from sources close to production that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will feature cameras with 5x periscope zoom, reduced lens flare, lossless JPEG-XL image compression and 8K 60fps and 4k 120fps video capture capabilities. When combined with A18 Pro’s 20% increase in energy efficiency this could increase battery life as well.
Battery Life
Apple claims the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max have the longest battery life among smartphones available, boasting up to 33 hours of video playback – four more hours than the iPhone 15’s 27 hours of video playback.
Apple often doesn’t reveal the exact battery capacities of their new iPhone models, but thanks to regulatory certifications and teardowns we know this year’s models have larger-capacity batteries. Furthermore, MagSafe fast 25W wireless charging support is included and they support reverse wireless charging at 4.5W for fast 25W charging as well.
Ming-Chi Kuo is an esteemed analyst, and his reports of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max suggest they will offer outstanding battery life. According to him, more power-efficient chipsets will allow significantly longer battery life without compromising its sleek design; additionally, its chrome steel case should reduce heat generated by its denser battery pack.
