India Beat Australia by 295 Runs in the Perth Test
In a phenomenal comeback, India bundled out Australia for 150 during their first innings and later steamrolled their opponents with classy century knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli in the second innings. Thanks to Jasprit Bumrah who took over the captaincy and made fiery bowling displays in the second innings that pushed India to declare their innings at the total of 487 runs with 6 wickets lost over an entire 134.3 overs. With this particular test victory, India managed to inflict the biggest test defeat to Australia by Runs outside of Asia. In such an innings, Australia started crumbling with Nathan McSweeney getting a duck after facing Bumrah and a staking nightwatchman Cummins getting dismissed by Siraj after edging to slip.
First innings: The beginning was difficult for Australia as they failed to hit big partnerships that made them who they are globally. However, their squad was resilient and capable with Travis head scoring a 89 but his effort saw no victory for Australia as they went on to lose their first test match and the border Gavaskar trophy at the hands of India.
Stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah and fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj ran through the Australian batting line-up as India took an unrealistic lead of 462 runs in the 4th day of the match. After that, Yasahvi Jaiswal who went on to score a half century, along with Kohli went on hit great centuries in the second innings and put Australia on the backfoot throughout the match.
Despite appearing to have survived the difficult part, the team in red made some errors. Bumrah’s series of bouncers resulted in Nathan McSweeney earning a duck while Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins were dismissed for low scores near the end.
Harshit Rana was the one who wowed everyone as he demolished Alex Carey’s greenhorn. Rana managed to deliver the short ball delivered through a right-handed dimension. Australia were left in a difficult situation and succumbed to all out for one hundred thirty-eight. This was the largest error the Australians made while playing the Indians in a test match and such resulted in losing a twenty-one match streak in the optus stadium. You can watch the viewpoints for every ball the Australians faced on Kayo and how it all went down Sans an ad break.
Second innings
There is absolutely nothing quite like the last cliche of a sporting team that genuinely performs all in It sounds good on paper but do not expect it to materialize however to win the test. Australians were utterly dominated by India at the Optus Stadium while the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series had commenced.
In their second innings, India scored 534 runs thanks to their brilliant centuries scored by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli as well as the brilliant bowling performance led by substitute captain Jasprit Bumrah who took eight wickets, but that finish put the hosts in deep trouble, and they did so poorly in response only gallantly fighting back through half a century scored by Travi Head.
Everything came to a head after tea on the day of the fourth set when Australia was on the254 Bbdwhile Indian held the 248 victory and became the first out of the Mali tussle border Gavasker five for the time course trophy series. Youngster Jaiswal began the proceedings with an impressive knock of 161 runs making it clear the world that he has a lot of utilities and control over the game. And Kohili was not left behind, he made his 7th century in Australia making him one of the best batsman ever to have played in the Australian courts.
It was quite a disappointing performance from the Australian side, as they were generous on the runs by loose bowling too. While the other team started the collapse, allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy almost singlehandedly demolished the Australian middle-order and Washington Sundar who took two scalps each side of lunch to further demoralized the home team.
Third innings
India won their second test match with Australia played at Perth Stadium, gaining the upper hand in the five match test series known as Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a score of 295 runs. After having being viewed by many cricket fans in the world as a powerful team, Australia was shocked after India suffocated their resurgence attempts to come back into the match. Virat Kohli regained his form and advanced the opening best score of 161 runs by Yashasvi Jaiswal, making it possible for India to have the upper edge in the match.
Jasprit Bumrah stood as the pacer who covered the ground on the fourth day finishing the stand as captain, earning him three wickets making him the first Indian pacer to ever take 8 or more wickets in a SENA country game. He also managed to achieve a five wicket haul making him the second Indian player in history to accomplish this on seven occasions.
Ending the match on a high and as some fans would say perfectly accurate, India was able to add another achievement in their match records earning a noteworthy achievement in the history of cricket as they defeated Australia at the Optus pitch for the first time. With four matches remaining starting from Adelaide, the visitors managed to gain the upper hand in the best of 5 games series.
An unfortunate but good 3rd wicket for the Australians as Rana takes an inside edged catch off the short leg off Carey who I feel looks like a good start. I think it was absolutely a run out, whereby he dreamed that he could make a contact somewhere inside the line of a ball short and angled by Harshit Rana, which was not a good day to bowl as the ball would fly into the stumps.
Fourth innings
It took over a day of batting for Australia to finally be all out for 238 in their third and fourth batting innings against India in the cold of Perth, giving India a remarkable victory while securing an early 1-0 lead against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As usual, Jasprit Bumrah paid close attention to the boundaries, but also Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal appeared to have a good day at the office which was a total package as victory in this case would be etched in the history of cricket.
At the commencement of the day, the Australians were backed into a corner as they were to take on a target of 534 at the Optus Stadium. However, lethargic attitudes did not persist for long as the likes of Head and Marsh sought and constructed solid positions on the scoreboard. The excitement was short-lived as the phenomenon that is Bumrah was unleashed onto the pair and rapidly dismissed both.
At the intermission of the second Test, Bumrah once again struck as he sent Starc back to the pavilion. The paceman placed the ball on the leg-stump, and due to poor defensive technique, the Australian could not defend the ball. Jurel at silly point, however, managed to grab the ball off the bat.
It was an emphatic victory for India that erased all the doubts in the Australian camp and was the most humiliating loss that the Aussies had to bear against an Indian side at their home ground. It was also the largest defeat by a team in the fourth innings of a Test match in Perth and the second largest in a fourth innings of any Test match in any part of the world.
