Donald Trump - American Politician

Donald Trump – American Politician

Donald trump was a billionaire who made his reputation in the GOP presidential nomination race of outshining sixteen of his rivals by stating the clear intention of ‘USA is to be made great again’. The billionaire is said to have made his wealth through real estate, casinos, hotels, and beauty pageants.

He attended New York Military Academy and then proceeded to Wharton School of Business, and later on he acquired his father’s firm.

Born in Queens

Donald Trump was born on 14th June 1946 in new York City. He was the son of Frederick Christ Trump who had four other siblings along with him, Mary Trump MacLeod. He served in the New York Military Academy, and Wharton school at the University of Pennsylvania afterward. After spending some time in the real estate business in Philadelphia, he came back to New York to his father’s real estate business.

Trump’s early life was not as easy as he had to face multiple allegations and feministic claims that would make him a tenant to potential assassins that were willing to kill him. The Justice Department also claimed that the Trump Organization was preventing Black tenants from renting apartments in their complexes. The firm ended up sealing the deal by not denying anything wrong.

During the late 1970s and 1980s, he broadened his portfolio by venturing into hotels and casinos and even trademarked his name for everything from steaks to vodka. Between 2004 and 2015, he also became known as the host of NBC’s reality game show The Apprentice.

In his private life, Trump had several marriages, as well as legal wrangles that made the news. His first with Czech model Ivana Zelnickova was more controversial as he was accused of domestic violence. After divorcing her in 1990, Trump married actress Marla Maples in 1993. They had three kids, Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric.

As the head of the state, Trump did not hesitate to branch out his style of addressing Americans and other politicians. His doctrine was focused on boosting the American economy while not shying away from challenging other national leaders. During his presidency, Trump also left most trade and climate deals, introduced a travel ban from seven nations, the majority of which were Muslim, and implemented tax incentives never seen before.

There were concerns about Trump’s inexperience when assuming office mainly because he did not seem to embrace the standard practices and conventions of the US government. This has led some people to brand him as a ‘chaos president’ while others have hailed his capacity to disrupt the norm. Trump during his first term appointed three justified judges who were conservative in their leaning as well as exercised powers including banning immigration and imposing tariffs.

Education

Trump during his last three presidential campaigns has singled out one of the greatest foes of modern-day GOP – higher education. Off the wall spending in higher level education that doesn’t meet the basic expectations and promoting debt, are some of the issues he has targeted while outlining solutions. Many of his proposals have drawn from right wing politics which include cancellation of student loan forgiveness and reducing the Department for Education’s remit by eliminating it altogether.

To some Republicans, the department is a clear example of government interference where it meddles in areas that are supposed to be handled by the state or local government. It has also backed civil rights enforcement from a mainstream view which has annoyed sections of conservatives.

Trump’s main idea is allowing funds for schools to be controlled by the states and only a minority of money to be used for specific activities like standardized tests and teacher training. As he puts it, Parents ought to be in a position to decide where to send their children and use whatever they have available, be it public resources or private, to ensure the children acquire the best education.

So, there will, however, be more freedom and rivalry amongst schools, which would improve the output of all. Well, the proposal is not likely to see the light of day; there is a Democratic-controlled House that stands in the way. And even if, as some expect, he manages to win the nomination, it is unclear how far he could go in implementing this concept.

As the elections approach, many constituents are left speculating whether a Trump-led administration will follow through in its ramifications of atomizing the Education Department. But Hess of the American Enterprise Institute warns that the task would be an exhaustive one. According to him, the general idea of the new President shutting down the Department of Education is far-fetched as it will require the Congress’s sanction and, moreover, another ruling in the Supreme Court has only furthered the different branches of government’s restrictions concerning making changes through excutive order. For the time being, he says, the Trump administration will not hinder its completion of the long-established plans of downgrading the US Education Department. It has already begun to repeal the anti-discrimination policy put in place by President Obama’s administration that allowed students to pick which bathroom they wanted to use based on which gender they identify with.

Business

Governance and entrepreneurship have historically been treated as separate entities. However, one has single handedly managed to blur these lines. This phenomenon is Donald Trump who is the first and only President of the US to have a business background prior to taking over the office. The nature of business has been very kind to him, and rightfully so has much shaped his political vision, where his ideas governance represent that the US can actually be enhanced and rebranded to be ‘great’ once again.

His career in direct business started in the age of 60ies where he started pouring money into Philadelphia real estate while still being a student. After completing the degree, he started building up his father’s portfolio in real estate business in New York City and Atlantic City, which resulted in the founding of the Trump Organization. His properties include hotel resorts and other real estates, golf courses, commercial and residential properties, trademarking the name Trump on different goods and even the beauty congress of Miss USA and of Miss Teen USA.

While a large part of Trump’s companies have proven to be economically active, there were also considerable failures and in one instance he was labeled as a ‘lost tycoon’ in a not so flattering biography in 1993. Several of his companies have zinged bankruptcy before and some of his initiatives have brought about a laughing stock. For example, in 1988, he purchased the non-fuzzy Eastern Air Shuttle, upgraded it and turned it into a luxurious airline, but the firm was forced to file for bankruptcy in 1992 because it never turned a profit.

Politics

Trump’s reputation prior to assuming presidency can be said to have a political edge, given that he had been able to establish networks with city Democrats in order to get preferred treatment for his real estate projects in New York City. Trump is considered to have come into the limelight after advancing the birther conspiracy theory, which posited that Obama was not born in America.

During the contentious 2016 election period, Donald Trump won the hearts of Americans when he single handedly appealed to their discontent about the economy and the leadership of the country. He had a flamboyant lifestyle that, together with his passions, generated mixed reactions from the public while raking headlines in the news. He managed to overcome 16 experienced contestants for the Republican nomination before clashing with, and eventually defeating, Hillary Clinton in the greatest election campaign.

Trump’s administration has also been scandal ridden, owing to the policies he has advocated for. He has decreased taxes for both corporations and individuals, rolled back environmental regulatory measures, and rearranged the federal courts. A neutral stance was adopted on a foreign policy basis that resulted in heavy restrictions on immigration and a trade conflict with China.

Donald Trump is well known for using Twitter often to leverage his goals while disparaging critics. He has also been accused of insulting his aides and even the news journalists covering him. He can be said to have pushed the boundaries with making certain statements regarding electoral malpractices including the now infamous tweet “covfefe” where he stated Democrats were stealing ballots that were mailed in. Twitter has also been used by him to share a conspiratorial tweet about how ballots were being secretly stolen by Democrats.

For people who support Trump it is possible to state that he has accomplished domestic changes within the country, for his opposing side however, that might not be the case. His opponents on the other hand are worried that their assessment of the situation is clouded by their opposing view and therefore struggle to maintain objectivity.

In spite of this, the sentiments of the Americans towards his tenure have been largely negative. Respect for American democratic institutions and the ideals of democracy is perceived to be lacking in him, though these perceptions seem to paint partisan lines. There have been increasing public fears with what little evidence suggests the legitimacy of the Russian voting process for the 2016 election. In addition to this, there has been a high turnover rate in senior staff and cabinet members during his administration suggesting instability for the future of the US.
